Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

1. Introduction & Scope

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Road Trades, LLC (“RoadTrades,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with roadtrades.com, our subdomains, and the related products, tools, and services we provide (collectively, the “Service”). It applies to tradespeople, recruiters, staffing companies, visitors, and anyone else who interacts with the Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service. This Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the Service, and information we receive from third parties.

2.1 Information you provide to us

  • Account & registration information — your name, email address, password, account type (tradesperson or recruiter), and, for recruiters, your company name and role.
  • Profile & resume data — your trade(s), classification (e.g., apprentice, journeyman, foreman), work history, skills, certifications and credentials (such as TWIC, OSHA, NCCER, welding, rigging, and safety-council cards), and any other details you choose to add to your profile or resume.
  • Location & work-day data — if you use our multi-state day/location log or related tools, the states, dates, and related entries you record. If you turn on automatic mileage tracking in the RoadTrades mobile app, we also collect precise location data — trip start and end points, the distance driven, and the state you are in that day — including when the app is closed or not in use, for as long as tracking is enabled. This powers your own mileage log and per-diem day log only: recorded trips are held for your review, coordinates are removed as soon as you file a trip as business or personal (and on a rolling schedule otherwise), route breadcrumbs are never stored, and your location data is never sold and never shared with recruiters, advertisers, or anyone else. You can turn tracking off at any time in the app, and your device’s location permission controls it at the system level.
  • Expense & financial inputs — expense entries, receipts, mileage, per-diem figures, and similar information you enter into our tools to obtain those tools’ functionality.
  • Job & application data — job postings (for recruiters), applications, invitations, and the communications and documents you exchange through the Service.
  • Communications — information you provide when you contact us, request support, respond to surveys, or otherwise communicate with us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage & device data — pages and screens viewed, features used, actions taken, referring/exit pages, dates and times of access, and other interaction data.
  • Log & technical data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language preferences, and similar technical information.
  • Approximate location — we may infer general location (such as city or region) from your IP address.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — see Section 7 (Cookies and Tracking Technologies).

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Social login providers — if you register or sign in using Google, Apple, Facebook, or LinkedIn, that provider shares with us the basic profile information you authorize — typically your name, email address, and profile photo — which we use to create and sign in your RoadTrades account. We never receive your password for that provider, we do not post to your social accounts, and we do not import your contacts or connections. The provider’s own privacy policy governs its collection during sign-in, and you can disconnect RoadTrades at any time in that provider’s security settings — your RoadTrades account and this policy are unaffected.
  • Payment processors — limited transaction and subscription status information from our payment provider (see Section 2.4).
  • Recruiters & companies — information related to applications, invitations, placements, and completion confirmations.
  • Service providers & publicly available sources — information that helps us operate, secure, and improve the Service.

2.4 Payment information

Paid subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment provider (Stripe) through WooCommerce. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers on our systems. Payment card data is collected and processed by the payment provider in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy and applicable card-network rules.

2.5 Sensitive information

Some information you choose to provide (for example, certain credentials or background/drug-test currency dates) may be considered sensitive in some jurisdictions. We use such information only to provide the relevant features you request and as described in this Policy. Please do not submit sensitive information you do not want us to process.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service and its tools;
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • Match tradespeople with relevant jobs and recruiters, including through automated matching (see Section 9);
  • Enable you to share your resume, profile, and credentials with recruiters when you choose to do so;
  • Process subscriptions, billing, and payments;
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • Send transactional messages, service announcements, and alerts you opt into;
  • Send marketing communications where permitted (see Section 10);
  • Personalize content and features;
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve usage, performance, and reliability;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful or unlawful activity;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies; and
  • For other purposes with your consent or at your direction.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract with you (to provide the Service); (b) our legitimate interests (such as operating, securing, and improving the Service), provided these are not overridden by your rights; (c) your consent (for example, certain cookies or marketing), which you may withdraw at any time; and (d) compliance with a legal obligation.

5. How We Share Your Information

We share information in the following circumstances:

  • With recruiters and companies — your resume and contact details are shared with a recruiter only when you choose to send your resume, apply to a posting, or accept an invitation. Profiles in our talent database are displayed to recruiters with contact information withheld until you initiate contact. Recruiters may share a blinded copy of your resume — one from which your contact details have been removed — with their clients and prospective employers for placement purposes only.
  • Service providers and sub-processors — vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting and infrastructure, email/SMTP delivery, payment processing, analytics, and security. They are permitted to use personal information only as needed to provide their services to us.
  • Legal, safety, and compliance — when we believe disclosure is required or permitted by law, to respond to legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of RoadTrades, our users, or others, or to enforce our agreements.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent or at your direction — when you ask us to share information or otherwise consent.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information — we may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so it cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

6. Job Marketplace Disclosure

RoadTrades is a platform that connects tradespeople with recruiters and staffing companies. When a connection is made and you proceed off-platform with a recruiter or company, that recruiter or company acts as an independent party and processes your information under its own privacy practices, for which RoadTrades is not responsible. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any recruiter or company you engage with.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate and secure the Service, remember your preferences, understand usage, and improve performance. We generally categorize these as:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Service to function (e.g., authentication, security).
  • Functional — remember your choices and preferences.
  • Analytics/performance — help us understand how the Service is used.

Where required, we obtain consent for non-essential cookies through our cookie-consent banner, and you can change your preferences at any time. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may affect functionality. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to “Do Not Track” signals, we do not currently respond to them, but we honor recognized opt-out preference signals where required by law.

8. Analytics

We use analytics tools to collect and analyze usage information and to measure and improve the Service. These tools may set their own cookies and process data in accordance with their privacy policies.

9. Automated Matching & AI

We use automated processing, including AI-assisted matching, to suggest relevant jobs to tradespeople and relevant candidates to recruiters. These features are intended as suggestions and aids; they do not produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without human involvement. If you have questions about automated processing, contact us using the details in Section 18.

10. Marketing Communications

We may send you marketing or promotional communications where permitted. You can opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages or by contacting us. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you non-promotional, transactional messages about your account or the Service.

11. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States and may process and store information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and for legitimate business purposes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the purposes for which it is used. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

13. Data Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to access or obtain a copy of your information;
  • The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • The right to delete your information;
  • The right to portability of certain information;
  • The right to restrict or object to certain processing;
  • The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (note: we do not sell or share personal information as defined under applicable law).

You can access and update much of your profile information directly within your account. To exercise other rights, contact us at contact@roadtrades.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request where permitted by law.

15. Notice to California Residents

This section provides additional disclosures required by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”). In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2, including identifiers, account and profile information, professional and employment-related information, commercial information (such as subscription transactions), internet/network activity, approximate geolocation, and inferences. We collect this information from the sources described in Section 2 and use and disclose it for the purposes described in Sections 3 and 5.

California residents have the right to know/access, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right-to-limit option. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact us as described in Section 18. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents may request information about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing purposes; we do not make such disclosures.

16. Notice to EEA/UK Residents

For individuals in the EEA or UK, Road Trades, LLC is the controller of your personal data. We process personal data on the legal bases described in Section 4 and transfer data internationally as described in Section 11. You have the rights described in Section 14, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

17. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

18. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources that we do not operate or control. This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party you interact with.

19. Accessibility

We strive to make this Policy accessible. If you use assistive technology and have difficulty accessing this Policy, please contact us and we will work to provide the information you need.

20. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
