YES - IF THEIR LICENSE COMES FROM ONE OF THE STATES NEW HAMPSHIRE HAS APPROVED, AND THE TRANSFER IS CLEAN AND FAST: no NH exam, no transcripts. QUALIFYING STATES - JOURNEYMAN (11): CT, DE, ID, ME, MA, NJ, ND, OR, RI, VT, WA; MASTER (10): the same minus ND (and CT qualifies via its Electrical Contractor license). WHAT THE CANDIDATE NEEDS: an ACTIVE, UNENCUMBERED (never temporary) license from a qualifying state + ONE YEAR of professional experience in the category sought (Plc 313.24) + the Universal Application and the fee ($110 journeyman / $198 master).

No criminal background check for electricians. HOW LONG UNTIL THEY CAN WORK: OPLC's own FAQ says to allow 10 BUSINESS DAYS from receipt for license issuance or a first request-for-information, applications processed in order received; the license arrives by email (from nh.licenses@doit.nh.gov). RSA 319-C vests electrician licensure exclusively in the OPLC/Electricians' Board; no NH municipality was found running its own electrician card, and the statute's only municipal role is inspection/permitting: state/city/town building officials 'shall have the authority to check the license or identification card issued under this chapter' (RSA 319-C:5, V), and local building authorities approve resumption of corrected work (RSA 319-C:5, IV).
